A massage therapist at a women’s centre in Sydney has created a new way of getting your feet into shape, by making them hot.
She uses a heat-sensitive gel-based massage massager to heat your feet up to a “hot” temperature before placing them in a hot tub for a “therapy massage”.

“People have been asking me about how I massage, and I’ve also seen people who have been in pain,” she said.
The gel massagers she uses are available at massage centres across the city, and they are sold for $10 each, which includes the cost of the massagers themselves.
“They’re really easy to use, so you don’t have to get into a whole massage shop to use them,” she explained.
Ms Kata said that although she has been using the gel-massage massager for years, she had never seen anyone do it before.
“When I was in school I used to be taught how to use the hot tub,” she recalled.
“But it wasn’t until I was teaching my first classes in the mid-2000s that I realised how much I could do with it.”

She said she has noticed that it works well for both people and for people with certain conditions.

“Using the gel is very similar, and for me, it feels really good to massage, but I’m not a masseuse and so the gel helps me be more relaxed.”
